My r300 on PowerBook 5,4 worked fine in Dapper, it broke when I upgraded
to Edgy, currently on Feisty and the fix is not in.
See Bug #61607

Maybe the bugs needs to be marked as duplicates?

Laptop attempted to sleep while using the mouse. Keyboard and ADB
touchpad had not been active for some time therefore perhaps the acpi

splash and quiet options were commented out. Please let me know if you

It's a UK keyboard BTW.
I have just noticed that Alt does give me € from Alt-2, as printed on
the key which is good. It would be ideal to retain this functionality if
xorg.conf needs a different keymap.
Other keyboard layout gripes:
* Shift_3 should give £ but in fact gives #

I am booting with the splash screen disabled so that I can see all the
messages.
This is the point where it stops. It looks like some kind of lock as the
cursor on the boot console stops blinking at this point.

This problem has been apparent since upgrade from Dapper -- Edgy and remains
in Feisty. The ALT key on the PowerBook keyboard does not register which makes
it impossible to kill X or switch to a VT. In xev, the keycode shows up as 64.
