libreoffice-kde disables ability to write special characters in
libreoffice
I can confirm that this happens to me with libreoffice-gtk and
libreoffice-gtk3 too.
In a fact I can't write it in any other program either. But when I
uninstall above packages, I can write it correctly at least in
LibreOffice.
Wierd thing is, that it works correctly on my Dell Vostro 3500 in

HOW TO REPRODUCE
1. Upgrade to a newer Ubuntu release.
2. Using the Network Manager application, try to start a virtual private
network connection.
@Marc, the version in the comment with instructions is for the Trusty
and Utopic. The 0.9.10.1-0ubuntu5~fixed is for Vivid.
Can you please show me the output of the following command:
dpkg-query -q network-manager-applet

If I'm right the fix I've already provided in PPA for the Utopic and
Trusty should work for Vivid as well. The problem is I have not really
compiled it for Vivid yet.

This is a mistery we yet have to solve.
But the assumption on the availability of Shell for the proper operation
of nm-applet is not a right thing to do.

@Benjamin, I could gather all the logs at my computer if I wanted so --
I had exact the same problem.
Yet, I do think that the fix provided by me is a correct one and there
is no necessity in debugging the problem further.

Just run a `nm-applet' and see if there is messages that the `Shell
version is unable to be found.' or alike.

Steps to reproduce (on a laptop):
* create new user
* log in to plasma session
* plug in external display
* Go to System Settings and disable the internal display
Result:
plasma crashes and comes back up
Side note:
With my main user plasma would crash and not come back up.
I have the same bug on Xubuntu 15.04, however I have registered the bug
I on a previous version Xubuntu 14.10 too. All updates are done.
A workaround for my desktop is the next command:
cp rc.backup ~/.config/xfce4/desktop/icons.screen0-1350x752.rc xfdesktop
--reload
It seems the bug is not

Just in case someone interested. Latest kernel update to
