Tried 3.3RC6 which is now available.
This kernel seems much more stable with the usb3 card.
My testing was not truly extensive, since using this kernel is problematic w/
my machine and oneiric (e.g. no graphics - I have nvidia, no standard boot -
only text mode recovery works). However, I

1) Have some usb2 devices attached to a usb port through a usb hub (in my case
an hp printer and a scanner)
2) unplug the usb hub (leaving the devices attached to it)
3) Plug the usb hub to the usb3 port.

After a long search, plasma widget networkmanagement 0.9.0 has been
identified as a possible cause of the frequent and annoying freezes of
the kde plasma desktop.
Such freezes occur when working with wifi networks and make the kubuntu

Ok, I think I am probably running into bug Bug #802626 or Bug #818177
What happens is that if I add --noudevsync to the lvm2 udev rule in
lib/udev and then I update the initramfs the delay disappears.
Thus adding lvm2 and udev to the bug.
However, I still wonder why I am running into this.

Experiencing this hang on a DELL E6500 where I am using LVM, after
ubuntu pushed the 3.0.0-14 kernel, the -13 kernel did not have the
issue.
But I do have the root filesystem on LVM. So the problem seems to be
there even if rootfs is on a logical LVM volume.

After the kernel update the machine takes ages to boot. At first I
thought that the machine was not booting at all, but in fact it is, only

At least the fuse cloop code could probably be packaged, so that cloop
images can be opened even if strict on disk space. (Currently one needs
to uncompress the whole cloop image)

Trying to investigate a bit further
Issue is most likely with
# Stop udevd, we'll miss a few events while we run init, but we catch up
udevadm control --timeout=61 --exit
in /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-bottom/udev
For some reason with the -14 kernel this command exits when udevadm
This is happening on a Dell E6500 with intel graphics which should be a
rather widely spread machine, in case this information can help testing.
I have also tried the kernel on an eeepc 1000H, which does not seem to
be affected by the bug.

because gtk tries to load 64 bit versions of the gtk engines.
A typical example of this is acroread.

Tried 3.2RC4 from the kernel ppa.
Unfortunately it hangs at boot, so I cannot test.
