I am able to run TuxGuitar but first I must manually install sun-
java6-jre package.
I look at TuxGuitar (0.9.1.4ubuntu1) dependencies and it contains
following:
sun-java6-jre | java2-runtime
I don't understand it, but this still don't enforce installation of Sun
Java.(?)

It is pretty annoying as a new user. I remember this issue when I first
started using Ubuntu; it would be nice if it could be change with a sudo
prompt similar to enter old password, enter new password, confirm new
password. I would think that a sudo action would be able to overcome
the password
I would suggest 'Software Updates' or even just 'Updates' . Sounds
better then 'Updater'. An updater is a thing (that does updates), where
as updates is the end-goal / product that the users are after - so take
out the middle man (the updater) and just point the users to the updates
themselves.
A valid argument, however, when do users ever 'configure' updates? I've
been using Ubuntu for a couple of years and I've never done anything to
the updates except to install them. Does Ubuntu even have configuration
option for the updates (other then install/ do not install)?

I've never come across that view point before. I believe that naming it
'Software Updates' will bring us in line with the rest of the industry:
Windows = Windows Update
Apple = Software Update
Fedora = Software Update
Maybe we can settle on best 2 out of 3 and go with Software Update. My

There is an issue with Java Web Start 1.6.0_06 (32-bit) failing to
connect to server. It downloads and runs application from the web just
fine, but then said application needs to connect to the server to
authenticate, the error message is displayed, "Authentication error.
Cannot connect to server.
I think Cheese is more appropriate. And I only want it to be installed if

Ok, so the problem persist with current Hardy and acpi version 0.09-3ubuntu1.
Further investigation revealed the following.
1. Kernel module asus-laptop recognizes F5N model correctly (from dmesg output:
asus-laptop: F5N model detected)
3. All special keys generate correct ACPI events (from cat
SCIM won't close in version 1.4.7-3ubuntu2
It is screwing my keyboard as well. And yes, complex characters input is
disabled in "Language Support"
I do have support for Russian language checked in because that's what I need.

laptop regardless "Best shapes" (default) or subpixel dithering
settings. It is especially noticeable in Terminal and OpenOffice, and
gives real strain on my eyes. Reboot into 7.10, and the fonts are all

640x480 low resolution.
If /etc/uspalsh.conf is edited to reflect correct 1280x800, it has
effect of boot splash being set to 1024x768

This problem persist with Hardy 8.04 Alpha 6 release on my Asus F5N
laptop. After suspending to RAM, laptop wakes up to a black screen, no
backlight. Keyboard works, and pressing power button shuts down the
laptop. Suspend was no problem in Gutsy 7.10
