Just upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 and what used to work perfectly
now does not work.
eSata drive connected, see in dmesg that partitions are detected but not
automount when valid UUID entries are in /etc/fstab.

As someone has mentioned in another thread, ONLY having sound feedback
as the sole confirmation of the Print Screen function being used is
totally discriminatory to any deaf Ubuntu users (let alone those with no
working sound on their systems).
This is a totally regressive change and is now beyond
Just WASTED 30 minutes trying to capture a screenshot for another bug on
my 12.04 system (Gnome fallback) before finally finding this change.
Talk about making simple things difficult for people - what happens if
someone doesn't have sound and they just keep hitting "Print Screen"
waiting for some

I migrated both 10.04 systems by copying the functional /home folder to
a new 12.04 Beta system.
I had Evolution installed on the 12.04 system and when run it converted
the existing 10.04 Evolution user data and config to the 12.04 version
of Evolution with the results as posted above.
Personally
I have found further that the Ubuntu One CouchDB components aren't
installed on my working 10.04 system (which was originally installed
when 10.04 was released) but were installed on a subsequent 10.04.3

Evolution 2.x (and probably previous versions) these options were
separate.
This is very confusing for users who want *all* their POP message
Over 12 months now and a bug THAT HAS A WORKING PATCH AVAILABLE has
still not been fixed.
I just did a test install of Ubuntu 11.10 and the bug is still there,
yet a dopey user like myself was previously able to use the patch files
to fix the Australian only file which causes the problem - but the
C,mon developers, this is another one of these EMBARRASSING things that
gives Linux a bad name.
All removable devices should be auto fsck'd as a strict policy to ensure
that the user has the best chance of accessing and saving their data. At
least give people a warning and the option to fix things
Ok, I have now found what was breaking my scripts - VMware Workstation
8/Player - I verified that the install process of this program changed
all the run levels in /etc/rc0.d & /etc/rc6.d on my fresh 10.04 test
system. I have reported it to the VMware forums.

I had believed that particular bug refers to the sysvinit package, in
any case it was still there in a BRAND NEW 10.04.3 install I did last
week, and I don't recall installing anything out of the ordinary. I have
seen many posts in the Ubuntu forums about people with "dirty"

It seems to be an issue with 10.04 systems, even a brand new 10.04.3
desktop install I made last week had it. I have subsequently found that

This also affects new Ubuntu 10.04.3 installs.
Manually renaming /etc/rc0.d/S01halt to S99halt fixes it (as the same
for /etc/rc6.d/S99reboot).

I have just manually downloaded and installed the 11.10 package
(2.88dsf-13.10ubuntu4) on my 10.04 system and it installed without any
dependency issues:

I recently discovered that I could not update VMWare Player - the phase
of the uninstall that stops the existing services would hang and
eventually the whole system would require a power reset. System would
also hang on shutdown under normal operation.
Uninstalling cgroup-bin
Ok, found the problem - it is the cgroup-bin & libcgroup1 components.
Uninstalling them resolves it:
