I just don't care about this bug
The same problem here. I can't see what I'm typing when connected to another
desktop via Remote Desktop Viewer 2.26.1. In order to see what I have typed I
have to close connection and connect again. I also cannot drag windows.
The keyboard works technicaly, because after reconnect I can see what
I forgot - the client and server are both Ubuntu 9.04. In Ubuntu 8.10
everything worked fine.

I had the same problem on Debian Etch server. It was caused by the
mmissing updatedb binary. According to dpkg info the binary should be in
the finutils package, but it wasn't on the server. So I reinstalled
I have upgraded to 8.10 som I can try if the problem persists.

I just copied /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/misc/vboxdrv.ko to
/lib/modules/2.6.24-18-generic/misc/vboxdrv.ko and everything works fine now.
Then run depmod so you can just type 'modprobe vboxdrv'.
Or you can keep the old '2.6.24-17' kernel booted.

I get the same issue everytime the kernel is updated. I think that's because
the virtualbox-ose-modules are built and ported to the official repositories a
always bit later then the kernel. It used to be always like this. I think it's
just a matter of time, when the new virtualbox-ose-modules

I have the same experience but: when I choose to find a user defined
program to open the file and then click Cancel, firefox finds the
appropriate program by itself. So it seems that Firefox at first cannot
find the right application to handle the file, but when you cancel
choosing the user
After installing the latest openoffice.org updates (1:2.4.0-3ubuntu4) it
works fine again.

When I start OOo Calc it crashes after a few seconds, no matter what I
do. sometimes I can write something bwfore it crashes but sometimes it

Same problem here. After tha latest updates today I cannot boot the system. I'm
running ubuntu 8.04 i386. Within the latest updates there were the both kernels
2.6.24.12 and 2.6.24-386 updated. I think there was might be an error in init
images generated.

I forgot the kernel version - I cannot boot up with 2.6.24-12-386 and

I've just found what the problem was and fixed it. Exactly as the dpkg output
says in the /var/lib/dpkg/available file at the line 25525 the was missing -
character. So instead of openoffice.org-l10n-en-us there was openoffice.org
l10n-en-us so that dpkg (or what) was parsing it as two columns.

workaround by Matthew Wardrop. Although editing the libmawt.so file doesn't
look like a systematic fix, it works and I can run java applications now.

I'm afraid the patch isn't released in 1.6.0.04 since I have installed the
version 1.6.0.04 of JRE (java-6-sun), but I couldn't run any java application
until applied the Matthew Wardrop's workaround.

kernel-image-2.6.24-386 installed and booted up. Today after updates I got the
new kernel 2.6.24-10 and after reboot virtualbox didn't run again. I couldn't
find any virtualbox-ose-modules for the 2.6.24-10
When I switched to linux-kernel-2.6.24-386-generic and installed
virtualbox-ose-modules for this kernel, Virtualbox works again now.

caused that I can run Firefox 3 now but Firefox 2 was upgraded to Firefox 3. So

I also have this experience with Thunderbird. The CPU load is about 50%, which
causes heating of the CPU on my notebook. I have installe dUbuntu 7.04 and

Ok, I've tried the screeensaver full screen preview and it has
restarted my GDM session. But when I lock my screen and the screensaver
turns on - fullscreen of course - everything works fine.

notebook and somehow I couldn't get the desktop effects to work ;)
