Sacnned a page and saved it as follows:
1. without compression and without downsample
2. without compression and with downsample
3. with lzw comp. and downsample
4. with lzw comp. and without downsample
5. with png comp. and

-Saved as pnm which gave me a 24mb file (to big to post.
-Closed and reopened the program
-opened the pnm file and saved it to pdf with lzw compression and downsampled
it to 100dpi (the output quality sucks but it's working) see attachment.

Have same trouble here now with 8.04 updated to day.
Here are my findings:
When saving pdf document with png compression, blank pages.
When saving pdf document with lzw compression black pages.
However my finding is that this trouble is not due to the compression.
I have run several tests now,
OK, Just did several more scans now to be sure.
It a ll saves fine to pdf here with all types of compression (or without
compression), just when I turn on the downsample it fails.
Lets see what Ratcliffe finds out and we split it in 2 separate bugs if needed.

This is on a Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop with Generic 2.6.24-12 kernel, Canon
MV500i DV Camera.
Output of some more testing:

get analog video on a input and deliver digital through the firewire.

The screen brightness goes down automatically after a few minutes (Much less

The laptop has 2 fans, only one is running, but the speed controll looks like
it is not working.
Under Ubuntu gutsy earlier and in Windows XP the fan can speed up so it sounds
like a helicopter takeoff.

I find it really strange that Ubuntu is not taking action on this...
I have a Dell Inspiron 9300, and 2 seconds ago also upgraded to the latest
Bios.. it is still stuck at 800Mhz.
I thought that Dell is shipping new computers with Ubuntu... wonder how that
will be when they start to put Gutsy on

Volume controll on the latest gutsy at the time of writing does only work on
the 2 front speakers on my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop.
The so called sub woofer underneath does have full volume whatever I do with
the normal volume controll.
The PCM volume does work on all 3
I'm not an expert at this, but will supply whatever needed as long as you can
guide me.

temperature never get as high as it does before the fan starts on 2.6.20-16
On 2.6.20-16 I have seen temperatures down to 25degr.C with the fan still
running full speed.

If I select restart from the Gnome menu, it restarts, but fan stays at the same

Must agree with you that a backport is needed. Not only that 6 months is a long
time, but as you can see from the link, tis does not only apply to p990, but a
lot of sony ericsson phones.
This is a business phone, and ubuntu should due to that make a backport.

I have now solved this one.
I changed my access point from channel 12 and down to 6.
Then iwlist scan did show my access point, my computer connected, and did got
an ip adr. through dhcp...
Then the big question is.. why doesn't this card work under ubuntu on
channel 12. I have another laptop,
