conncect to the MySQL tables and that solved part of the problem. The remaining

I guess I've come across this bug too. I have a Canon LBP5000 working with the
original Canon CAPT driver, version 1.6 (always worked like a charm with
Intrepid); after the upgrade to Jaunty it can still print the test page
correctly but printing from any other program (I tried at least A

I upgraded my system from 8.10 to 9.04 and after that I couldn't use it
anymore. All GTK2 widgets (buttons, scrollbars etc.) are unresponsive, they
display correctly but don't respond to mouse events; they work fine when
activated by keys, though.

cannot access SMB/Windows shares. This feature is usually linked in by
distribution-specific OOo packages and that's where all the troubles
come in I guess...

I suffer this issue since months now, from ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10... I
guess Ubuntu OOo's SMB extension is really messed up; I got file
corruptions, random loss of data and other unpleasant behaveours that
make impossible to use Ubuntu's OOo in an office environment, right now.

Had it tried on another hardy box experiencing the very same problem,
switching to openjdk-6 doesn't fix the issue, resulting file from
editing is still corrupt; I tried to access the same file from two other
windows machines and from them it works flawlessly...

Sorry to be still there but, after a morning of db form editing, the problem
came up again.
Tried again to remove javasettings_Linux_x86.xml without success, even tried to
completely remove .openoffice.org2 but no luck.
Got to revert to backups again and lost a bunch of macro editing work, too

I had a couple of forms made in OOo base that have Listboxes in order to
show, in a popdown menu, data from a MySQL db. Things did run just
smooth until OOo 2.3 (ubuntu 7.10); after upgrade to 8.04 and OOo 2.4:

I'm experiencing this problem as well with my Geforce 8500 GT on a standard
ubuntu hardy 8.04 with Compiz enabled. When cpu/gpu are loaded enough the
monitor blinks and everything but the mouse (the cursor still can be moved) is
locked hard: the system seems to be responsive and a ctrl+al
Tried 2.6.25 kernel and problem went away, so for me it's totally a
kernel issue. Hope a fix will be released soon for 2.6.24 serie since
nvidia subsystem won't compile against my 2.6.25 vanilla sources... :^\

I've checked out the jumper, it's correctly closed on MAster; the cable
has the long edge connector attached to the MB and the opposite side is
stuck into the CDROM, the central connector is free.
For the sake of (computer) science, I can try if setting it to SLave or
CableSelect makes it work...
I confirm this, ubuntu hardy 64bit ODBC connector is buggy, OOo crashes as soon
as it tries to connect to a mysql DB via ODBC. As jph suggests, installing
"original" odbc connector from mysql.com fixes the problem, it is sufficient to
convert rpm's with alien and then use them to replace ubuntu

If found out that I also had the longest tail of the IDE cable attached to the
CDROM and not to the MB but, unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem (I
also switched to a brand new IDE cable, just to be sure, since the old one was
pretty twisted and deformed).
My setup is quite sim

I add a little thing about my fresh install try: before installation
hung telling not being able to mount the cdrom drive, the screen was
flooded but such messages (process stalled for a couple of minutes):

I think I have the same problem as you guys, after gutsy->hardy upgrade
I lost my cdrom drive which used to be addressed as /dev/hda (my HD is
serial ata and so not connected to the standard IDE bus). I only have a
/dev/sr0 and /dev/scd0 entries which relate to scsi emulation stuff, I

Just upgraded to the fix-release, rebooted but the problem persists:
gnome-mount -e /dev/sdc or gnome-mount -e /dev/sdc1 (IPOD is third
drive) simply do nothing, while eject doesn't work anymore:

For now, I umount (not eject the device) and then unplug the ipod, I
guess this shouldn't corrupt anything (maybe I'm wrong?) and then the
ipod ejects by itself. This bug should definitely be worked out for
better usage of the gui, though.

I'm experiencing this annoying bug too. The error message I got is a
more cryptic "Unable to eject." from Nautilus, but when I eject it from
the command line it works like a charm.

I have the same problem and, for what I've found out, it is related to NFS
protocol not being supported by current version of gnomevfs2.
I read somewhere that NFS got dropped switching from gnomevfs to gnomevfs2 and
that support is now available only through a patch. I think ubuntu package
lacks
if so a backport do Edgy would be really appreciated ;^)

for what I've seen this bug is definitely worse for people who don't use
antialiasing (like me), it seems that antialiasing smooth it someway
out...
