EDID properly. But that is the problem with most of Samsung's monitors and
ddccontrol supports them somehow (I don't know, how - maybe by some
pre-defined signatures for mapping random EDID to proper data?)
So
Hi everyone,
Could you try and see what the current support status for your monitor is by
using the latest version of the monitors database is ? You can get it from here.

As far as I can tell, the bug about display not being correct (as reported by
suprit and chester) is in no way related to ddccontrol.
The original bug (missing configuration for a given monitor in the ddccontrol
db) might still be present, since none of the maintainers of the project have
time
Refreshing - This bug will be THREE YEARS OLD with the publication of
next Ubuntu release and... since two years nobody touched it... I can
provide all the information necessary to any developer who can repair
this package. It is very annoying and problematic to use xorg.conf when

I hope this information can help someone.
I've edit the /etc/default/grub and changed the line of
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=nomodeset.
After this, I've rebooted and I could get my full resolution again.

I have also a Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM and I've just installed Ubuntu
10.4.
During the installation, the image was strange, with some parts like blinking.
At the end, when restarted, Ubuntu recognized the monitor as Samsung Electric
Company 24 with resolution of 1920x1200, but the image

If your graphics card need it, please check all the required kernel modules are
loaded (i2c-dev, and your framebuffer driver).
Then I did 'sudo modprobe i2c-dev', and ran the command sudo ddccontrol
