Ok, fix released in Ubuntu 9.04, meaning among else that 8.04 LTS ->
10.04 LTS should not experience this problem, at least not because of
openoffice.org-voikko. Like described in the previous comment, for a
possible 8.10 fix testing would be needed in addition to nominating this

I now tested in a virtual machine that apt-get dist-upgrade worked
pretty fine for me for 8.04 LTS -> 8.10 (only some f-spot error at the
end, and even it got solved by doing yet another apt-get dist-upgrade),
which means someone experiencing this problem could try this solution. I

Ok. I cannot do much more at the moment as I cannot reproduce the
problem. However, Pre-Depends might be causing problems in complex
upgrade situations – I will see if Pre-Depends can be removed from
future openoffice.org-voikko releases (it was introduced in 8.10
regarding Ubuntu packages), so tha
There were no dell customizations to any openoffice packages. Likely
this is some language related issue. The Dell install keeps ALL
language packs.

I just upgraded from the original Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (http://old-

Ubuntu 8.10 also successfully, with openoffice.org-voikko installed, so
I'd say the problem is Dell-specific somehow. Ooo-voikko and other OOo

I believe it was installed by default. During the upgrade, I noticed the
installer spent a lot of time working with a lot of different language
packs. If I'm not mistaken, a CD install of Ubuntu usually deletes those
language packs.
I did not do the updates first. I thought it would save time, sin
I just did a problem-free upgrade from a pristine Ubuntu 8.04.2 LTS
installation to Ubuntu 8.10 and from there to Ubuntu 9.04 development
version without problems. openoffice.org-voikko upgraded finely all the
way. Maybe this is a Dell-specific problem? Can you say why openoffice

I'm having the exact same problem. Just got my Ubuntu Dell desktop today
and did the upgrade. Now, the upgrade is aborting. It also would not
install openoffice.org-core or update-manager, which I've reported as
separate bugs.
