I've been using Ubuntu 11.04 for many months now: the issue has NEVER
reproduced. The hardware is still the same

I've reproduced the issue with the mainline 2.6.38 kernel
(2.6.38-020638rc2-generic #201101220905).
Instead SO FAR I've NEVER BEEN ABLE to reproduce it using the live
distribution of Ubuntu 11.04 alpha (after rebooting about a dozen of
times).

I've really never found a sequence of steps to reproduce it systematically, but
while when I filed this bug the issue came out very frequently, now it seems
disappeared. I've updated the system (Ubuntu 10.10) very
Hi Davide,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it

latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from

I've found an old issue for Fedora Core very similar to this one :

There the wrong behavior is better described described. The only differences
are that:
- in my case when the touchpad starts its strange behavior, it continues till a

The problem seems NOT SYSTEMATICALLY REPRODUCIBLE, since today I've been able
to use the touchpad with no problems for some minutes after a restart. Usually
(I've not a statistical sample) moving the pointer around on the screen for
some seconds is enough to reproduce the issue.
