[Bug 370000] Re: package mysql-server-5.1 5.1 .31-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso post-installation script devolvió el código de s alida de error 127
I've got similar problems but on Ubuntu 9.10 64bit First, when I installed this ubuntu, I recovered all /etc/mysql/ files from 9.04 and moved it to my current Ubuntu installation. Then after a while I installed mysql-server 5.1 which gave my configuration error while installing. After some playing around I've purged all server packets, renamed /etc/mysql to /etc/mysql1 and installed server again, it got mysql working, it starts and restarts, however I get this message when starting: /etc/init.d/mysql: WARNING: /etc/mysql/my.cnf cannot be read. See README.Debian.gz Also, while installing mysql-server packages I've got this: * Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ] 091209 11:45:51 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled. 091209 11:45:51 InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 0 44233 091209 11:45:51 InnoDB: Starting shutdown... 091209 11:45:53 InnoDB: Shutdown completed; log sequence number 0 44233 091209 11:45:53 [Warning] Forcing shutdown of 1 plugins * /etc/init.d/mysql: WARNING: /etc/mysql/my.cnf cannot be read. See README.Debian.gz * Starting MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ] Although I've got no idea if it's relevant or not. Once I copy old my.cnf file, mysql fails to start until it's removed. I went to mysql-common and manually extractet my.cnf buried in this package. after placing it in /etc/mysql/ I can start mysql server. So I'm guessing that the old my.cnf from Jaunty must have something wrong that doesn't let it work with mysql-server from Karmic ** Changed in: mysql-dfsg-5.1 (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.31-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso post-installation script devolvió el código de salida de error 127 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/37 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.1 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Aquina, this would indeed solve the problem, but in Ubuntu 8.04 LTS it should be like this already. Apparmor is started at S37 in rcS, which is before S23ntp in rc2. [Bug 322214] Re: php incorrectly opens stdin
This bug, which is still present in Ubuntu Server 9.10, makes php development on ubuntu much more difficult. Piping long output streams into a pager is a standard part of any developer's day-to-day work, and php usage from the command line is essential to many users. I'd like to see this bug made a higher priority, particularly since it appears to be relatively simple in nature, and php's output is fine in other gnu/linux distros. We shouldn't have to all rebuild our php packages just to get the basics working properly. Please provide the /etc/samba/smb.conf and /var/log/samba/log.nmbd from this system as well (after setting log level = 3) - preferably attaching these to your original bug, bug #487795, so if we find ourselves unmarking that bug as a duplicate, all your information stays with it. So far, the only way I can reproduce any failure at all is if the loopback interface is also down, and no interfaces line is set. That would appear to be a duplicate of bug #461725; and furthermore it produces an entirely different error message in the log: [2009/12/09 15:16:37, 0] lib/interface.c:527(load_interfaces) ERROR: Could not determine network interfaces, you must use a interfaces config line and causes smbd to fail to start *in addition to* nmbd. So this doesn't match the bug report of the original user. It looks like I'm still missing here a complete set of: - description of which server processes fail to run - copy of /etc/samba/smb.conf - copy of /var/log/samba/log.nmbd (with log level = 3 set) - copy of /etc/nsswitch.conf - copy of /etc/resolv.conf from *the same* user. Until I have all of these things (preferably from the original submitter, with other people experiencing problems filing their own bug reports so that they can be tracked separately if it's *not* the same bug), I don't think I'm going to make forward progress on resolving this. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. [Bug 406524] Re: samba-common subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 (and no other error msg)
The problem here is that the condition check [ -f /var/run/samba/winbindd.pid ] in the /etc/logrotate.d/winbind script is not wrapped in an if block and as such has a non-zero return code if winbindd is not running. Since it's a valid case that winbind be installed but the daemon is not running, it seems that this condition should be in an if block so that the return code is zero if the daemon is not running. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- samba-common subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 (and no other error msg) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/406524 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 492734] Re: App-Armor and NTPd in Xubuntu 8.04 LTS unconfined!
1] I'm using Xubuntu 8.04 LTS right now, that's correct. 2] I can confirm AA linked as S37apparmor in rcS.d and NTP as S23ntp in rc2.d, although I thought smaller numbers indicate a sooner start up. 3] Ich double checked the NTP configuration under /etc/ntp.conf. Do you want to see it at pastebin? Are there any other configuration files? 4] When executing sysv-rc-conf NTP is started in RL 2,3,4,5 and AA in NONE of these but S. Nevertheless aa-status returns apparmor module is loaded. 5] When restarting NTP manually (sudo /etc/init.d/ntp restart) it's listed correctly afterwards. 6] ntpd's PID is 27344 (right now!) which is much higher than all the others (late start time?) 7] Rebooting the system doesn't help at all. [Bug 494353] [NEW] Unable to get Linksys WPC54G wireless card to work out-of-the-box
Public bug reported: I own a Linksys WPC54G V3.1, a PCMCIA wireless adapter which I understand is based on a Broadcom chipset. The card doesn't work out-of-the-box, and while I'm not sure it's the appropriate thing to do, I've tried installing the Synaptic package bcmwl-kernel-source.
