I'm using the beta version of Ubuntu 12.04 Precise (64bit), and this
problem doesn't seem to exist anymore after upgrading a few times from
the beta1 (more precisely after upgrading unity). So if you install
beta2, it should be fine.
Precise is still in the beta stage, but for me, it's much
I mean I had had that NTFS issue until before I upgraded to the Precise
beta. So if you are sick of this ibus issue, you'd better try the
Precise beta then you may have not only the ibus bug fixed, but also
other ones . Yet, it's still beta so it's better to use Live CD or USB

I experienced this issue on a fresh 12.04 install on a Lenovo Ideacentre

The issue resolved after running the commands listed in Step 1 at

Thanks for the help everyone!

I had both no room in /boot and the initramfs issue
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of initramfs-tools:
initramfs-tools depends on initramfs-tools-bin ( 0.99ubuntu13.4.1~); however:
Version of initramfs-tools-bin on system is 0.99ubuntu13.5.
My guess is it's caused by /boot
