Hi Philip,
That's great, thanks for making a start - good work.
I've also made a start on the first 10 minutes of episode 2. I've made
a focus on readability also, and

Although it has it's limitations (spelling didn't always work as

Hi,
Would any of you be willing to put a bit of time into transcribing the
Ubuntu UK Podcast into plain text format?
It doesn't need to be one person doing every episode, but each person
could pick one ep, and do that, and then do another when they have time.
Any volunteers, questions?
Cheers,

Is there any particular format or layout required?
I didn't give it that much thought. I figured that the most time
consuming thing was to actually do the transcription itself, so as long
as it's in a human readable format (unicode text)

Sure, that affects us all, so it would be great if we could have a

Hi All
I haven't responded to any of these before but I'd be happy to get involved

community and this sounds like a great way to go about it.

I did wonder about this too - I would definitely be able to pitch in if
it was one or two 10 minute chunks to transcribe each week.

Hi,
I transcribed most of the Ubuntu Screencasts subtitles and as a guide it
took me around 4-5 hours for a 30 min video. Granted, I'm not a fast
typist and each line had to be sync'ed with the video/audio properly
afterwards, so I'm sure this project will be much quicker.
It definitely helps if

I use VirtualBox to do exactly that in Ubuntu, as far as I know it is
also available for Windows. One thing to note is the NON open source edition
is the one that allows you to share usb devices between the host and guest.
I'm sure I saw a blog post recently describing how to fix that on

IIRC, people talk at a rate in the order of 300-350 words a minute.
