Using Firefox I have noticed a screen corruption that seems to occur
after some time idle. The same problem occurred on Ubuntu 14.04. It
suggests to me that somewhere deep in the graphics driver something is

machine hangs very early in the boot process on Ubuntu
3.19.0-17-generic, but boots successfully using recovery mode, or

I subscribed you to this bug. It is problably a dupclicate, but I think
it is a Kernel bug. With this being a 5 year support, I think it needs
addressed. It does not bother me, as there is workarounds, but for a
new user with the same hardware it could scare them off as a first
impressio

10.04 with kernel 2.6.38-38 perfectly.

Steps to reproduce:
Open about:config in firefox
Open to window to change any value in firefox
Resize this window
Xserver freezes instantly.
Also happens in the firefox download dialog or in intellij idea (java
programm).
ssh connections are still possible, but restarting
With no nVidia driver it works okay. I get a desktop, but no Compiz and
everything looks just a little bit rubbish
With nVidia I get the first application start to start then nothing.
I have tried creating a new user, but the same thing happens.
