I can confirm #109. I'm using a GeForce FX 5200 card. I've tried to
force unity to start by adding UNITY_FORCE_START=1 to /etc/environment.
Unity starts but is unusable (icons missing and very very slow), so I
assume that Unity simply does not work with an old card like this. I
will stay with Unity

I'm also getting this crash with the latest unity and all updates as of
2012-06-11.
I can force this crash by opening nautilus and pressing Control-N 20
times to open 20 nautilus windows. The next time I press Alt-Tab or
Super-W I will get the crash.

Gnome shell does not work. You have to compile manually the AMD website

correct preperitary driver of the ATI web site? You probably have the
open source driver running. The version should be 2:8.892 as shown in
synaptics and must be enabled by xorg, means shown active in the
additional drivers dialo

I've had the same issue on my Upgrade from Maverick to Natty. I didn't
use fglrx on Maverick, but had it installed once. Mainly removing
/usr/lib/fglrx and /usr/lib32/fglrx manually solved the problem. I guess
those where some leftovers from an incomplete Maverick fglrx uninstall.

I use a small script called by udev (as root user) whenever I place my laptop
on the docking station or remove it again. This script uses xrandr to turn off
the laptop display and switch on my primary monitor (or vice versa):

I have tried Linux Mint 9 a few minutes ago. In the Live CD mode it is

I am also using karmic Koala with 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2, and have the same
problem as Gray. I can not change the format to PAL.

I just compiled i915 with the patch, updated initramfs and rebooted.

Xserver and GDM load but the mouse pointer shows artifacts and the input boxes
don't work.
I can move the mouse pointer but I can't enter any text.
I can boot with i915.modeset=0 and log in. I could even stop GDM
