advanced media codec packages in 16.04, they seem all packaged in from
what I can tell. Furthermore 16.04 doesn't seem you to require to fuss

Oh, you're using the 32-bit version of Ubuntu? We don't have binaries
for this platform (yet). You could try to build them yourself from
https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver-vendor/tree/public/7.9/CPAN. Or
you install Ubuntu in its 64-bit flavor.

I was using the most recent nightly build of 7.9 LMS, installing the
.deb file via dpkg.
Yes, you are correct; I'm running 32-bit Ubuntu currently, but I can
easily re-install the 64-bit version, since I'm ready to "retire" this
computer anyway, and make it a dedicated Squeezebox server.
No major issues on Ubuntu 16.04 64bit. Clean install. 2 plugins would
load (srvrpowerctrl and Erlands Information Screen) I think at least the
first one is being put in a new repository

I have Ubuntu 15.10 running on my ESXi for LMS.
After doing the upgrade to 16.04 my Plugins ShairTunes2 and
SuperDateTime Screensaver could not be loaded anymore.
So i reverted to my old snapshot with Ubuntu 15.10

using do-release-upgrade (on an x86_64-system) and installed LMS
7.9.0 via dpkg - no hazzle, all done in 35 minutes, runs just fine!

I finally had time to update LMS to latest 7.9 and upgrade my ubuntu
15.10 to 16.04. All went smooth. The only issue I've noticed so far is
that the local radio station list is empty. This used to be filled with
all of our Dallas area stations. Other radio station lists are full and
work fine.
