For some strange reason (to me), i wasn't able to flash a working
version of Moode to a micro sd.
No such trouble with Volumio though, so i tried that instead.
But more or less as expected, there were still dropouts. I guess it is
now safe to conclude, the pCP software is not the root cause to
Ok. Just to rule out, that it is the RPI 4B board having a bug, i
mounted the Digi Sig hat on my 3B+ nd.. Instant dropouts!
Back to the 4B headphone and after two hours of perfect playback, the
root cause likely SEEMS to stem from the hat or maybe, just maybe from
the pCP software...
I
Sorry yes my mistake :p
CPU mostly idle, as expected... makes more sense. Back to the Allo as
potential root cause then...

Looks like the number comes before the label not after it.
If so then this is 99.8% idle

I don't have any RPi in running order right now to do the same and

Ah, never had to do that on PicorePlayer... I am not even sure what
tools are installed by default for monitoring. Hopefully someone can
step in with good advice.
An easy one to start, is to ssh into the machine with LMS running, and
run the *top *command while music is streaming. CPU usage

I haven´t tried to change output as i don´t have a cable with bnc

However i opened the diagnostics page, just to see if i could spot
something that could looked like a bug.
Mind you, i don´t have any clue, what anything means, when it comes to
codes, command lines etc., but i found this in the pcp_dmesg.log:
Different buffering settings didn´t help and i did try up to near
extreme values.
No luck with removing the ssd either. And thumbs down to a 32 bit
version in the server as well.
Next up is a fresh 32 bit card in the client. Fingers crossed.

I have just popped a 64 bit card into my rpi3B+ (I'm not going to

Are these two clients synced? If so, try unsyncing and perhaps (soft)
powering off one of the clients. If they're not synced, do you get the
dropouts on both clients?

Yes. Thats right. I use 64 bit on RPI 4Bs.
Is there any known issues with this combo? Or do you think the
squeezelite / kernel settings should be different to how you would
configurate a RPI 3B /

You have the 64 bit pCP version
I use the 32 Bit
Eliminating the switch and connecting the server directly to the router
didn´t help.
The glitches are still there...
Tomorrow i´ll try some different buffering settings again. And if that
doesn´t help, i´ll run LMS without the ssd and maybe also play through
the headphone jack.

Hi all,
Thank you for your inputs and ideas.
I have just bypassed the switch and i have time to listen to music this
afternoon (dk time).
I will report back :)

I'm intrigued by this as I have the same device and no drop outs :)

Actually another possible test is to remove temporarily the Allo
Since it resumes all by itself, I'd suggest increasing the buffer sizes
that Squeezelite uses to see if that increases the time between pauses
or makes the pauses shorter or even eliminates them.
If the problem goes away than you can decide whether or not it is worth
investigating further at

Have you tried eliminating the switch? Try the Pi running LMS directly
into the router?

I haven't experienced these personally, but the fact they happen even
with internet radio tells me this has nothing to do with power, CPU load
or ALSA tweaks, because of the low data rates involved here. Most likely
128k/192k mp3 streams, even 15y-old electronics can play these without

On your pCP player device - what do you have in the various audio and
buffering settings on the Squeezelite page?
What is the interface between pCP player and the audio chain?

Just can´t seem to get rid of them.
Every 15 -20 minute a short, 0,2-0,3 sec., drop out. Not much, you can
say. But to me, it´s annoying as hell, just sitting there waiting for
the next one, instead of enjoying the music.
Sometimes it seems the sound is a little distorted too...
The drop outs,
