Thanks, Carl, for letting us know you're off and running. What I don't understand is why setting the JAVA_HOME variable is not the default in the AdoptOpenJDK installation. It should be. Other people are going to miss that during install and have the same problems you experienced I fear. I

Since this was nagging at me, I uninstalled Netbeans, reverted my change to the JDK, and checked all my environment variables. The Path did not have any quotes around the JDK or JRE bin specs, so I quoted them. (Either AdoptOpenJDK doesn't do that, or Windows intervened to be 'helpful'. It does
