If all you want is very basic text-only editor - why not use Notepad?
It doesn't get any simpler than that; and save OOo for the big jobs that
need spellchecker, graphics, etc..

When you have downloaded the program disconnect your computer
physically from the internet (ie disconnect your cable from the phone
