Hi Kevin Thanks, that was an easy one. For some reason the shell had a http proxy set (though I couldn't see this when I ran env) So unset http_proxy fixed it. Now all I have to do is track down where this is coming from, but that's my problem nothing to do with sa-update. Regards Terry
