Jack: In the “good old days’ I used to buy “Perfection” snake guides made in USA but later, some that I purchased were labelled made in Mexico. In this part of the world I don’t see perfection guides much any more. The late Dave Lewis used Pac Bay guides for his custom rods spoke well of

Talking of solvents, I have just cleaned a reel in solvent (low odour paint thinner) to remove the old grease which had dried out. This solvent is quite good at removing old grease and does not mar the finish. Then I applied Super Lube synthetic grease and oil. Now I’m ready to fish. Neville

Hi DonO: I’s an optical illusion as the white snow covered upper section represents the freezing level. Below the freezing level the mountains are still there but don’t show up so well. I used a 70-200 mm telephoto lens which brought the houses in the foreground closer than they really are.
