When I was a kid we had a Mac Plus with only a floppy drive, and it was customary that we would use a boot floppy which would create a RAM disk, copy the system files to that, then eject the boot floppy, allowing the drive to be used for an applications/documents floppy. I just booted up one of t

I forgot to add the most important thing, using a RAM disk makes your Mac Plus go blazingly fast! --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Vintage Macs group. The list FAQ is at http://lowendmac.com/lists/vintagemacs.shtml

Thanks everyone for the suggestions so far. A question though: If my ideal system folder is, say, 900kb and my floppy only holds 800kb, how do I get all of the System folder files to the RAMDisk? Do I have to do a "two stage" load? I.e.: - Load up as much as I can the first time (including find

I would highly suggest an external SCSI drive... This has worked well for me with my Plus. You can run 6.0.8 and not worry about switching floppies and how big it is, if it'll fit, etc. A lot of hard drives from that era were made for the Plus to sit on top of, with the same footprint. El
