This is not meant as a smart Alec answer, but the real answer is, don't use the
humanware braille display with your iPhone. At least that is what I would
recommend until humanware can get this fixed in the firmware.

There is a setting in Braille settings to change pages while panning. There's a
bug which causes Voiceover to display thepage number even when this setting
is on, unfortunately. This is why I mainly read in Kindle these days.

routing button, makes the message saying what page it is disappear. This
doesn’t completely solve the problem, but it does help, since you don’t have to

I thought the following press release would be of interest
I did see this Braille Display at Sight Village which is held in the UK every
year. Although I liked the Braille, I thought the device rather expensive and a
bit chunky for my tastes. But pairing it to 3 or 4 devices will be good for
someone if they can afford the heavy price tag. Just my

It is surprisingly light. The keys are fanned out in such a way that feels
more comfortable to me. It is hard to describe. You'll have to get your hands

The Vario does not have the thumb keys in the front of the display. The panning
is done with the navigation keys to the right and left of the braille display.
