Dear,
it's possible transfer file(s) from server to host with VNC?

Hi,
I have a peculiar problem. I cannot set WinVNC Server to accept socket connection. No
matter how many times I've ticked it on. It automatically reverts back to the off
state once I reopen the Properties page again. The greyed-out display number box has
"98" written in it. This can be change

It helped ... thanks ... I'm one step ahead ...

One thing about that: most inexpensive NAT routers do "virtual servers"
rather inflexibly. i.e., if you want to connect to port 5280 on an
internal machine, it must be exposed outside as port 5280. Of course, you
can just have your vncservers on different displays, moving them to other
ports
Can anyone help with a compile error I'm having or have any ideas for me?

Hi Glenn,
I am using Autocutsel (version 06). Autocutsel uses xcutsel under the hood. Anyway I
think that it may well be down to using a mix of older x utilities with newer CDE
utilities.
(see http://lepton.fr/tools/autocutsel/)
Generally if I only do cut/paste between PC > xterm > PC it work
Kevin,
Your problem is the X-applications and the selection they use for cut and
paste: CLIPBOARD, PRIMARY, or CUT_BUFFER0. This can be a problem on Solaris
itself if you mix and match older x utilities with newer CDE utilities.
Example, "xterm" (AND Xvnc) use CUT_BUFFER0, while "dtterm" uses PRI

Thanks to everyone who replied. The answers have clarified my thinking so I
can see where I went wrong in pondering the problem. I neglected to mention
that the environment behind the firewall is NATed, so I got confused trying
to figure out how the client could forward to an internal address.
Hi,
I am running RealVNC on Windows Xp professional. Both the server and the

I have tried sending the screen of the VNC server computer to ten vnc viewer

I run the same config (more than 1 Xvnc, not always all connected, ir-regular

but I have never seen any of my Xvncs eat 100% CPU time.

Can someone please help me with this cut/paste buffer problem? Is it something unique

It really depends on the router. Some routers have a web-based management tool that
makes it easy to "redirect" or "publish" a port to an internal server. Some routers
do not offer that feature at all and you'll be stuck with something like gotomypc.

You could set up a VPN or dial-up connection into the remote network. Both
are pretty easy on Windows 2000 servers. If the router will allow you to publish a
server behind the NAT, you can set up the Windows 2000 VPN services on an internal
server and publish the ports through the rout

Hi, Bruce.
If I understand the problem correctly, the following should solve it (I
suppose all VNC Servers listen on 5900):
On the client, run the following ssh command (or configure 3 port
forwardings on your SSH Client):
client# ssh -L5901:vnc_server1:5900 \
-L5902:vnc_server1:5
As many others, my configuration is a small LAN connected to the Internet
through an ADSL router that performs NAT, i.e. all the PC's have subnet IP
addresses (10.0.0.X), which means they cannot be accessed as such from a
remote VNC client through the Internet.
I know the public IP address of the

depends on at what stage the server was loaded. There is one at:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default",
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\", and
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ORL\WinVNC3".

Hi,
We use VNC across multiple machines on a number of remote site and one instance has
thrown up a problem today. This machine was working fine last week but something
must've happened over the weekend to change this. This is where we're at just now.

the temp directory was writeable by all I thin
