Hi,
I'm running vncviewer 4.0 on win2k, and whenever I change to full
screen, I have to press control + esc (to show my start menu) and click
on the vnc area or else my start menu will show instead of the remote one.
Has anyone else seen this?

This is the same problem we were having. I think it is a bug. We tried
installing again, uninstalling, etc. VNC becomes not useable to the point
that you have to walk up to the pc or console.
Below is the description of the problem in an email from our problem.

(Your mail wasn't quite clear) Our experience is that xmodmap worked
in 3.3.7, but stopped workiing in 4.0.

I don't remember if I tried the Alt key explicitly. That and it still
leaves the matter of the keyboard being completely incapacitated both at
the client and server level. Anyhow, it's hard to diagnose the problem
since I am not connected to anyone via VNC, let alone experiencing the
problem :-(

Mike,
The DoS attack only affects VNC Server for Windows - you shouldn't therefore
lose data as a consequence of an attack.
There is no need to set up a firewall, only to use the LocalHost option to
restrict connections to those originating from the local machine.

Henning,
Dynamic desktop resizing is where the viewer will resize if the server's
display is resized, without requiring you to reconnect. Scaling is a

It sounds as though their server isn't handling locally-rendered cursors
properly.
To check what the viewer is seeing, you can try running your vncviewer with

to see whether it prints any messages regarding the cursor.

VNC Viewer 4.0 supports the scroll wheel, provided that the VNC Server you

Hi all,

The VNC Viewer Version 4.0 has a feature called dynamic desktop resizing. I
think it is an equivalent to the scaling feature of former versions.
I switched on the feature before I connected to the server but I can't get
it to work.

Various virus-killer programs flag VNC Server as a potential threat, simply
because it allows remote access to a machine. Unfortunately, virus-killers
don't typically have enough intelligence to discern a "safe" VNC
