Easy answer. The RFB protocol picjs up the video information before

gets to the videocard. this menas that the Video overlay is not

ChromiVNC, or to use TightVNC which I understand fixed this

Hmm, I might try that.
Any chance of getting the rest of Jonathan's reply? Is it still

Yes, it was. :-)
There's also a known bug in ChromiVNC which causes it problems when

You could filter based on phrases which commonly appear in such

Hi,
You have a massive pile of X-Notes-Item headers in your mail, which
mean it's necessary to scroll down to read your actual message.
Please *try* to do something about them.

Well, if others don't have a problem with it, fine. I added it to
the boring headers list - which is something I rarely have to do,
and which most users won't know about, by the way.

In the last few weeks I have lost the ability to VNC to my home system.
I've notice I can no longer ping or traceroute to it either. I suspect that
my cable ISP (Adelphia) is blocking ICMP now, although they swear they

You might try one of the alternative VNC servers, such as TightVNC.

Essentially, it lets you initiate the connection from the server
instead of the client. The client/viewer listens for an incoming
connection from the server. On the server, there's an 'add new

I was wondering if it is possible to remotely install (like fastpush) VNC onto
a Mac running osX.
Sure, OSX contains a built-in SSH server, and the files and
installation commands can be issued through that.

I think everyone is missing the point. It doesn't matter if VNC is the

VNC, or any remote access program as pointed out, effectively gives the same
ability of being physically present at the server. You can cut-and-paste
I have a WinME 'server' running VNC as a serveice. When I connect to

Actually, the messages are *always* seen.
Everytime a Win98 PC is booted VNC Server advises
the user that no valid password has been set up and the user is then
asked to set the password.
Sounds like you missed the Default password.

Hello, Will VNC run on Windows Itanium 64 systems running XP 64 OS?
I haven't a clue. Will ordinary x86 programs run on Itanium under
XP/64? If so, then probably. However, from reports I've heard,
ia64's x86 emulation is extremely inefficient.

While Xvnc is based on XFree86, it's a much older codebase that
