Hi Wamuggers I've offered to help a teacher by setting up 2 older PPC 580s to run some CDROM based ed software. The computers run quite nicely on OS 7.6.1 however the CDROMs require OS 8 or 9. The CDROMs won't boot on the machine, throwing up an error -192 and/or message similar to Mac Start

iPhoto slowed down

Hi Folks My first post to the list after lurking for a few months. I have a 20 iMac, 1.25Ghz G4, 768MB RAM. OS 10.3.8. Recently iPhoto (4.0.3) has slowed down on start up. It shows all the thumbnails quickly (approx 2500 photos - 3GB) but then the spinning rainbow wheel appears for 3 - 4 minutes

My mum still runs an old LC 575. She was running out of space (only had 500MB Drive) so I added a SCSI Zip drive I had lying around and moved her 3rd party apps to zip disks. By clearing this space similarly you should have plenty of room for upgrading to OS 8 on your built in hard disk. A SCSI

Thanks for the advice people. After a rebuild, restart, trash empty (wasn't much in it anyhoo) and removing a 54MB pic I had scanned in yesterday, iPhoto now opens and closes quickly. Andrew
