Unfortunately, I already re-copied the most recently downloaded files
to the hard drive again.
I started the process before realizing I was in fact doing my own
secure delete by doing this.
I downloaded Data Rescue II as you suggested but in demo mode it only
downloads 1 file up

when I PrintSave as PDF , it show up in Preview AOK.
I sent the pdf file to my Printer (to print on his Wide format
printer) via email When he opened the pdf in adobe acrobat, it
showed up blank.

I have had similar problems in sharing ordinary files with the dark side.
However, if I open the file in Acrobat and then close it and send it
they can open it etc.
Using the Save a copy as Neil suggests would be a positive extra step.

In version 9, and assuming you're burning them from the Video Tab, under
Options on the left hand side there is a More button. If you click that,
you'll get a drop down menu. The option to untick there is Play all items
