Hmm what was that software conflict process called where you turned half off
and tested if the problem still existed, if it did you turned half off again
and so on until you isolated the corrupted file? That made for a fun weekend!
I've not had to do that in OS X!

Hi all
My nephew has an older 20 iMac that has been giving him problems for some

That's the one Ronni. Pure mathematical logic, still used sometimes to weed out
the troublemakers at school (not really?)
I've not done Preference Corruption in OS X. am I missing something exciting?

The error code mentioned is a fan sensor failure, the fan could still but
running but would need to test on the bench. Would require either a new fan or
a new logic board depending where the issue stems from, The hangs would be from
the drive getting hot due to lack of cooling

depending on the model of macbook pro (the one with the silver keys) could
possibly be a nvidia graphics issue which would be covered under a extended
warranty program, would need to test for it though.

I've changed Philip's Subject as each of his emails to WAMUG had a different

Hi John,
Just a thought … Have you tried opening iMovie first BEFORE you connect the
Camera.
Then connect the Camera, are the files stilled greyed out?

Same experience here. I have tried all the usual traps - generating
new docs from NEW, not save as from older ones, making sure the size
is kept to a minimum - I had an 8MB client doc the other day and the
bells rang immediately. Keep saving almost every edit and hope..

Hi
One reason that a Mac may not read an SDHC card is that it may be plugged into
a SD reader, not SDHC (as James has mentioned).
But, that doesn't explain why the SDHC card in the Camera is not recognised by
iMovie'09.
I'm sure you are trying to import correctly by opening iMovie Import from

I do not use FCE. But for AVCHD devices or basically any card/HD recordable
devices within Final Cut Pro, log and capture is the way of importing. So, I
assume FCE should do same?
Except JVC for which I use iMedia Converter: in past MPEG streamline.
