towards backwards compatibility. This is something not frequently found in
other frameworks, eg in Django or in Drupal.

I upgraded a project from 1.87.3 to 1.91.6. Pymysql is one of the new
features, replacing mysqldb.
I would like to ask if it is possible to do an override and use

branch eg 1.91 is the testing branch. 1.90 will be the stable branch.
These will of course increment by 0.01 in the next web2py release.
