this is because the cmon skin.conf does not specify any fonts the change to defaults.py did not include fonts - only strings as a workaround, add these to the cmon skin.conf: [ImageGenerator] top_label_font_path = /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/FreeMonoBold.ttf

Not completely following the scenario. If the vantage driver loses communication with the station, it will try up to max_retries time, then the program *starts over* from the top. It does not exit, so it is never in an "exiting state." It should keep trying forever. As always, it is helpful to

Gary - the point I was really trying to make was that - especially where an RPi is involved - it is likely that one cannot necessarily do all that one wishes - but compromising does not necessarily mean a significant loss of information. What people often forget is that midnight in particular
