Jim.. Try this distro. Its based on DSL v4which requires 64Megs of ram. The
version of Xastir on there is about 1.53 from memory. You can add your own
maps and save your settings for reboot next time on a USB stick.
Have a look here

Excuse my ignorance.. This virtual machine idea is something new to me. Ive

Now to run this do I need a Vmware player installed like the current one

That was a guess. Is it correct ?

Is there some way I can load a waypoint file from Oziexplorer into
Xastir . Ive never looked at this previously but can not see anything
obvious.. Any clues.. Oziexplorer uses a .wpt file which is just a text
listing along with some .plt files which are called Track point files..

working with SLAX which is Slackware based ?
Xastir compiles fine and Openmotif as well as Imagemagick .. It seems to run
with no errors but its utterly useless as the menu texts may as well be in
chineese. My experience with Slackware is pretty limited.

The saga continues. Ive managed to get a Slackware 11 source for Lesstif

Well Ive biten the bullet and taken the advice. I am trying to compile

Hello Xastir people..
Having problems compiling.. Last time I tried this 3 years ago I gave
up.. Iam way out of my depth here which is alot closer than 3 years
back.. Here goes.. Would love to see this go somehow. Ive spent a week
on and off with this so far and have some progress. The configur
the D700 wont spit out GPS texts whilst Kiss mode so thats probably
not the way to go.

I will delve into the BIOS on that machine perhaps and see if there is
anything in there regards the com port.

Mike ..
PC-Linux is a pretty impressive Distro. Ive run alot of Live ones up of late
and this one is near the top of my list. Its Mandrake based and looks to be
a neat base install .. They are using RPM package managment as a result of
the Mandrake guts on this distro. Unfortunately we lack Xastir
odd at first it does support English and uses a recent
KDE build and is FC6 based with reasonable hardware detection and a nice GUI
HD install..
