I'll add my 2 cents into this discussion. I use automaps. The way that I use them is that I have all of my "normal" maps setup as automaps="yes". I have a variety of maps in this category: terraserver radar shapefiles of just the USA (with states) shapefiles for counties interstate roads

A few months back, someone (I think it was Jason) posted the RidgeXXX.geo radar files.These do seem to be stable. I have been using these (the ridge radars) for the last 3 months with no problems. Could this be a fix? Z I've been here enough to have heard all the discussions of color level
