Your suggestions are appreciated. I've always been a GNOME user, but
this might give me a reason to try KDE.
Still, does anyone know if this is possible within XFree86, regardless

If you are running KDE, this can be done. If you are running KDE, reply
and I'll try to help you. (I'm at a Windows machine right now.) In

The general idea is that for any (linux) distribution, when using X, if
you select text, it is immediately copied into the buffer that is pasted
when the middle mouse button is pressed.
I would like to disable this. I'm unfortunately not familiar with the
specifics you mention in your reply. (I

xfree86? I know that for many, this is a useful feature. I can
appreciate that. But I have specific users/friends that I am introducing
to X that specifically do not want/need this feature.
I am more than willing to patch/
Is there a source modification, XF86Config directive or other such hack
for disabling copy-on-select within XFree86?
I understand the rational behind it. Really I do.
But frankly, it drive me nuts and I'd just like to do away with is
altogether. Please don't question the logic - I just need a
