I do want to correct one thing I said below. I said reality (Buddha
Nature/zen) is illogical and irrational. That is incorrect. Saying that
would mean it is NOT logical and NOT rational. What I meant to say is reality
(Buddha Nature/zen) is a-logical and
Joe and Edgar,
Zen Realization (which I interpret as 'Buddha Nature') has nothing to do with
'understanding' (rationality), and only involves 'knowing' if you mean that to
be 'experience'. But it is not 'knowing' as in 'understanding'.

There is no 'sixth sense'. There are not even five senses. There is only
Buddha Nature.
If you want to describe Buddha Nature dualistically you could say it is the
aggregation of all the five senses. But these five divisions/classifications
are dualistic and illusory - like saying
Joe,
I think when Kris said ...but no one has it he means 'no one who is under the
dualistic illusion of having a self possesses 'zen' (is aware of Buddha
Nature). Or...no one who is creating dualities manifests Buddha Nature.
That's the way I read it anyway. Of course I always read things

The ancient religions and myths, or at least some of them, were important steps

Joe and Merle,
This is correct but it's important to recognize that desire and attachments are
not really for things but for the IDEAS of those things in one's mind.
That's why, Merle take note, one can release oneself from desires and

First sentence. Good point. It's mostly the mind that lies, but the senses also
selectively sample reality rather than taking it all in. E.g. they function as
antennae tuned only to a small spectrum of audial and visual wavelengths. And
they focus light which is unfocused in nature...
Joe,
Yes, but the curvature of space is not an illusion. Scientific theories
gradually converge on reality. They are not yet perfect and may never be
completely so but that is NOT a reason to claim that structure itself is an
illusion, that there is no structure. Science is the study of that

That is partially correct. Reality at its most fundamental level consists of
