I guess it depends on what you are using the
frequency to do. My Neufinder 2 measures shaft deflection in .000, and gets
repeatable readings within .002...about half a cpm, if Dan did his math
correctly. In addition, the NF2 takes all readings automatically on
the weakest plane (NBP). To do that with a frequency meter, you have to put it
in a spinefinder first and mark the NBP accurately....or check the frequency all
around the shaft to locate the NBP. That's a lot of clamping and
unclamping...certainly not automatic. No, the NF2 is not a timing device,
but it will do as good or a better job matching the shafts in a set than a
frequency analyzer. And, it will do it a lot faster.
