Charlie,
The launch monitor won't give you any information worth saving if your evaluating
shafts with similar frequencies and flexpoints that have different torque specs.
After watching and listening to many tour players over the last 5 years as lower
torque shafts have found a way into their bags, I'll offer that the low torque shaft
has a very noticable effect on dispersion, and very little effect (if any) on all
other emperically measured parameters. From the subjective point, obviously the feel
of a low torque shaft is different - some prefer it and some do not.

Granted, my involvement in this is only dealing with players who swing very fast and
have very consistant impact. I'd expect that fitting a low torque shaft to a less
skilled player might also change some emperically measured data besides dispersion, as
some with slower swings and early releases might depend on a high torque shaft to add
loft to the face as well as squaring it.

I'm sure that Mike could offer similar data with his stable of long drive competitors
and their move to lower torque sticks.

I think Dave and Bernie are correct but you hit the nail on the head as their is a human on the end if that perfect spec club. I have a Canadian Tour player whom I build for and use him as my chief tester because of his consistent swing and his understanding of what I am trying to accomplish, his feedback is invaluable. On the launch monitor his ball speeds are the highest with a Fuji Vista Pro X flex untipped, but he tells me he has to work to hard to hit it, so I took an S Speeder and tipped 5/16th of an inch and blind bored it into a Titliest LFE blind bored to an insertion depth of 1 1/2 inches. Still a little boardy but OK. He will be home in June and I will continue with a higher torque X flex to see what we can come up with. I will have the luxury of having Dave T with me so I am expecting some good input and wearing Rich out on the range.
