This may be off topic, but I am a linux user and I am seeking help/info so please bare with me. :)

Is it just me, or is the connection between RoadRunner in Austin to the UT network extremely slow?  This can be very inconvenient if you go back and forth between UT systems and RR systems.  Is there any way RoadRunner can fix this?  I did a traceroute on the UT web server and this is what I got:

traceroute to www.utexas.edu (128.83.40.15), 100 hops max, 40 byte packets

Why does the connection slow down so drastically once it hits the Texas Backbone?  Is there any way that either Roadrunner or UT may remedy this?  Are we stuck having to live with the irony of having such a fast connection to the internet, yet such a slow connection to our school's network?  Any input, flames, slams or information would be great.  Thanks.
