All this cablemodem talk reminds me of when I got one in Lawrence, KS 2 or 3
years ago now. Horrible problems for at least a year, and then shoddy to
barely-acceptible service from there on out. It seems like some of the
installed Cablemodems in California are really nice, but friends of mine
around the country have experienced a lot of trouble with cablemodems.
Hopefully Time Warner will get it together here.

And now to my question - does anyone on this list have ADSL, or know someone
who does? I've called around, and it's availible a couple places I am
considering moving, but I'd really like to know how it performs. I'd just as
soon not pay their hardware costs and sign a year contract to get my install
fee waved only to find out that the service is horrible. Right now though,
it seems like taking a chance on that might be better than dealing with a
cablemodem.

Tom
