Following on from a thread that Ryan Cross initiated back in January on good book recommendations I'd be very interested to hear if anyone has any reading recommendations on the topic of hr, organisation management, people management etc.
I sometimes get the feeling that I'm not unique in the position as a tech startup that has grown beyond the founders and a few staff, that I started the business because I had an idea or a passion to provide a particular service as compared to a passion of managing people. Granted that part of running a small business is being a jack of all trades but there are people out there that love being managers and there those that love hacking on stuff. Added to this, as a young tech startup you don't spend much time inside larger organisations where you have the opportunity learn/copy/ absorbe management techniques from your peers. There's a plethora of management books in most bookstores and I'm sure there are those that are better than average. Any suggestions?
