During the crusades, I'd have rather taken my chances with Saladadin than Richard the Lionhearted (the Europeans at that time were notoriously savage) -- and if I was looking for science and culture, you'd want to head to Baghdad not Paris.
I meant to spell "Salahadin" not "Saladadin" which sounds more like a witty pun for a Middle Eastern style Salad on some chain restaurant's menu (ironic slip given the vegitarian discussion earlier)
