I too had heavy treeing when I used a drop of honey. It made a deep golden product, after straining. Before I strained it, it was kind of muddy, and there was quite a bit of "sludge" left on the coffee filter after straining.
I used room temperature water to start with. Why would the temp of the water affect the honey solution? Sparrow Robert, This is exactly how I make my CS. I have a 2 inch diameter glass 6 inches tall. My wires are 12 guage which I hang over the edge and are submerged 5 inches. I start by heating the distilled water to almost boiling in the microwave. Then I stir in a drop of honey. I hook up my batteries, which consist of 4 9volt batteries snapped together at their tops,to the wires with alligator clip leads. The wires are spaced 2 inches. I add 1 tablespoon of CS from my previous batch. After about 30 minutes the CS has turned a light golden with a good tyndal. Made this way with the honey I have no problems. The batch which changed colors was made this way with the following changes; I used cold water and no honey. There also was heavy treeing in this batch. I hope this is enough info for you to spot my error. Tom -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
