Hi, Gordon, I have had a nasty grinding pulse noise in my ear for many years. I`m getting checked for an AVM (arterio-venous malformation) in a week, as I read on the `Net that one on the carotid can cause these nasty noises. If it is blockage, not AVM, try large doses of Vitamin C, about 2 grams a day or so. Helps break up the buildup of crud. Also, I take a puff of Nasonex in my right nostril occasionally as it helps tone down the noise. I guess the steroid eases the swelling in my head. Hope this helps! Marshalee
