That is what the Silver Institute reports. However there is more to it than that. If this were the only way that it kills pathogens then it would not have any effect for anaerobic bacteria which do not metabolise oxygen. There is more to it than that. It is apparent that it kills by more mechanisms than just that one, but I have yet to have heard anything that sounds reasonable for the other mechanisms except for the catalytic oxidation of anerobic pathogens. I have no idea if it stops reproduction of the cell, since in every experiment we have done and had done, it kills the cell outright, immediately. One thing that it does it it causes oxidation of the pathogen, and when you oxidize proteins and amino acids, which is what elicits an immune response, they break down into water, carbon dixoide and so forth which do not elicit an immune response. > In these cases the cell is not destroyed is it, the cell remains but > is deactivated. When a cell is oxidized then it is broken down into water, carbon dioxide and so forth. > How can a particle many times smaller than the > pathogen destroy it. Well lets see. If I light a match it will be destroyed by oxygen which is MUCH smaller than the match. Same thing goes for bacteria, when they are oxidized they are destroyed. Silver catalyzes the oxidation of the pathogen, it breaks down into smaller molecules which are more stable. > To be destroyed the pathogen must be subjected to > the cleaving and disposal abilities of specialised enzymes > (macrophages) which are called into action by other components of the > immune system(antigens), which identify, lock on to sites on the > pathogen in a fail safe, cascading method. Not true. Cooking destroys pathogens. That is why canning works. Alcohol, most petrochemicals, heat, freezing sometimes, even dehydration can all kill various pathogens. Oxidation definitely kills pathogens, that is why hydrogen peroxide works, and that is how silver works. > The disabled pathogen may > release toxins during this process, and the action of enzymes in the > immune system when dealing with large numbers of invaders is generally > accompanied by an elevation in temp etc.,hence one feels lousy. The kidneys and liver must dispose of these bodies and/or toxins. If it is too much for these organs to take care of, then you will sweat out much of it. > Does that mean the vaccine was ineffective? > Maybe I'm wrong, but I do believe that the vaccine was still there and > it was the immune system that eliminated it. > It is a pretty good indication that there was no immune response. How long does it take for the immune system to deal with such > disabled cells? That is why CS is so nice. It kills them outright in a matter of minutes, whereas many antibiotics only prevent them from dividing, which may require days to take care of them.
