Dear EJ,
Don’t panic, see my post to Roger on BP. But walking around BP’s do not mean
all that much. BP is only considered high if it is very high and remains so
when you are relaxed for a while in a sitting position. Blood pressure does
not remain constant throughout the day. I it changes all day long,. Goes up
at rest, goes up with lying flat for some reason. Goes up very high if you
need to use the bathroom(especially if there is a line) goes up with
exercise, even walking around in the grocery store. Play tennis sometime
and see where it goes. Or lift something heavy. It is sustained high BP
that never goes down even at rest that is the worrisome sort. If you have
the mooola get one of those BP watches and wear it all day for a few months
and observe how often the BP changed dramatically throughout the day. I had
one and wore it for years playing with it, then got bored with the whole
thing and put it away.
BP is an indicator of hidden health problems, it should not be a number to
keep us in terror, worrying about it does more harm than the actual numbers
and can drive it up more.
