Ed,
The easiest and safest way to heat water for CS is to place the jar of water
in a pan of water heated on the stove.  It only takes a few minutes for the
water in the jar to reach a temp of very warm, not hot.  Somewhere around
baby bottle temp.
I agree with James that microwaving CS water could be taking some
unnecessary risks about the quality of your water.
