Just wanted to add my two cents. I quit smoking back in 1982 but I never
intended to stop. In 1979 I was station at Scott AFB IL and had just returned
from the clinic where I was told that I had pnemonia and numerous other things
and that I would need to quit smoking. Needless to say I did not follow that
advise, but it really hurt to smoke. So I bought some aqua filters which was
better but not good. I then found a package called a step at a time. they had
4 filter ranging from that stepped you through. I began on No 2 but so
switched to 3 as it felt the best on my throat. within a couple of weeks I
switch to a Malboro Light cigerette and in a few more weeks I began no 4
filter. I still never intended to quit. I like the filters as they did not
take the moisture out of my lips. The only things I told myself was that I
could not smoke without my filter. A year and a half later I found I had not
smoked in a couple days so I quit.
I have a hard time even remember that I ever smoked... I had never craved one
and never even think about them.
Now twenty some years later I'm very grateful that I did quit... my cost for a
carton in 1978 was about $3. I see now that it would be almost $30.
