There is no gateway on the POTS line. The POTS line is JUST a POTS line. I placed an outbound call from my Polycom IP550, which went through sipXecs to our ITSP, who connected the call to the analog phone system, where the call was received on an ordinary (in no way related to our sipXecs system) phone.
I placed the call on hold (on my Polycom), and when I resumed the call, I could hear the other party, but he could not hear me. Hope that's enough to clarify! So how is everyone dealing with NAT issues, then? Our ITSP recommends NOT having sipXecs behind NAT (we are having some problems that the ITSP thinks are NAT related), but I do not want to have public IP addresses for all of our phones. Mike Burden Lynk Systems, Inc e-mail: m...@lynk.com Phone: 616-532-4985 PS: In case anyone cares or has any insight, the problem that we are having is that if I call a POTS line from the SIP phone and place the call on hold, sometimes the audio is one-way after the call resumes. A Wireshark trace outside the firewall shows that I still have RTP packets flowing in both directions, but the ITSP thinks that they have been incorrectly NAT'd. To further add to the mystery (and seed some doubt about whether the ITSP has correctly diagnosed the problem), the problem only occurrs when the call is placed on hold from my Polycom IP550. If I make the call from X-Lite and put the call on hold the problem doesn't happen. I've reqested additional IP Addresses from our ISP so I can disable NAT between the Internet and the sipXecs server. Once I've got everything reconfigured, I should be able to find out if the ITSP is right about what the problem is. -----Original Message----- From: sipx-users-boun...@list.sipfoundry.org [mailto:sipx-users-boun...@list.sipfoundry.org] On Behalf Of Picher, Michael Sent: Tuesday, November 10, 2009 6:33 AM To: Kyle Haefner; sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org Subject: Re: [sipx-users] Dual homed sipx server? Actually it can, I set up both my servers to be dual homed. If you are careful with static routing you can run your sip network internal private network and you user portal on an external network. I haven't tried running sip on both interfaces, I imagine the proxy server can do it, maybe there is a problem with media...?
