Therein lies your mistake...  don't unzip the files yourself...

Clean out any polycom files in that directory and use the sipXecs gui
device files uploader.  (Devices -> Device Files).

If they don't activate properly, you still have some residual files you
have to get rid of.

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware in my Polycom 501. I did this
successfully last spring when I started using Sipx, but now I can't get
it to work. I've extracted the new files into the tftpboot directory,
but the phone is not picking them up. What am I overlooking?
